Preparing for a facial: a useful appointment checklist

Prepare your product list, explain your goals, confirm the location and leave with clear written aftercare instructions.

“Facial” is a broad service name. It does not tell you every product, device or technique that will be used, or whether a particular step is appropriate for you. The most useful preparation is to make the appointment specific: what you hope to achieve, what your skin has recently experienced and what the practitioner plans to do.

Describe your goal in your own words

Start with one or two observations rather than selecting every concern at once. For example, you may want to discuss how your skin feels after cleansing or understand what a professional cleansing appointment includes. Make a note of when the concern started and whether it changes with products or your routine. Avoid treating the booking form as a diagnosis.

Tell the team if your appointment is connected to an event, trip or photographs. The date matters when discussing what is realistic and whether trying something unfamiliar fits your plans. A cosmetic service should not be presented as a guaranteed way to change your skin before a deadline.

Bring information that helps the consultation

Write down your regular products, including occasional exfoliants, masks and any prescribed skin treatments. Note previous procedures and reactions. Share relevant medicines, allergies or health concerns directly with the practitioner. A general guide cannot tell you which of these matters for the exact procedure being considered.

Do not stop prescribed medicine or change its dose because of a beauty appointment. If preparation instructions appear to conflict with medical advice, ask the prescribing clinician and practitioner to clarify before proceeding. Where treatment timing needs adjustment, confirming that in advance is better than guessing on the day.

Your preparation checklist

  • Names or label photographs of regular products
  • Previous treatments and dates, if known
  • Relevant medicines, allergies and past reactions
  • Your main goal and any event or travel dates

Confirm the service and preparation before leaving home

Ask which steps the appointment includes and whether any are optional. Request instructions specific to the proposed service: whether to arrive without makeup, whether a product needs to be avoided, and what to do if your skin changes before the appointment. There is no single preparation interval that fits every product or facial.

Fresh Look has locations in Prishtine on Rr. Ferid Curri (Arberi) and in Fushe Kosove on Rr. 17 Shkurti. Confirm the location, appointment time and service rather than assuming your previous booking details still apply. The contact page lists the phone numbers and email for practical questions.

Understand the proposed plan before agreeing

Ask the practitioner to explain each proposed step, the expected outcome and the reasons it might need to be changed or postponed. A service name or photograph cannot replace that conversation. Ask who performs the service and what training is relevant to the techniques involved; do not infer credentials from a uniform or marketing wording.

If you are uncertain about a step, say so before it starts. You can ask for a simpler explanation, discuss alternatives or decide to wait. If a concern needs medical assessment, a cosmetic appointment should not take the place of that assessment.

Leave with an aftercare plan you can follow

Before you leave, ask for written instructions that name the procedure and products used. Confirm what you can use at home, what activities or products need to wait, when your usual routine can resume and who to contact with a concern. The answer should refer to your actual appointment, not just a generic instruction to “be gentle”.

Keep a copy of those instructions with your booking details. If something differs from the explanation you were given, contact the practitioner or seek medical advice as appropriate. Do not make your own recovery plan by combining instructions from unrelated treatments online.

What to take away

Prepare a short product and history list, confirm the exact service and location, and ask for personalised preparation and written aftercare. A useful appointment begins with an informed conversation.
